why
I have often found the design part (as in graphic design) of creating a website quite painful. I could produce something decently aligned, clear and usable, but only very slowly and I would keep getting back to it and asking myself whether I liked it or not. Most times I ended up being frustrated. The design itself was uninspired and quite frequently landed in the bin.
On this site I will try a more playful attitude. I don't even want to become a top designer, I am actually more interested in getting a site to work and have nice functionality. However, I feel, to create a website one should at least know about the principles of design. And it is nice to, at least sometimes, do all the parts of creating a website. Not every website needs to go in a css gallery, sometimes they just want to get information across. And that is an aspect of design I am interested in: Design that supports the functionality. The design becoming "invisible" as somebody put it.
I keep talking about design, but there will be information about development as well. It helps a lot to document things, as I have often noticed. And if it helps me, maybe others can benefit as well.
